Wiring fun!

Anyway, this '75 is my daily driver for awhile. I knew it had "issues".
The aftermarket power windows were wired thru the gauge circuit. I kept blowing the THIRTY amp gauge fuse leaving me watching the clouds (clouds OUTside the car) with the windows down. I chanced to notice that the fuse only blows if the parking brake is on. THAT bit of hell I'm saving for a day I'm in a really good mood.
Pulled the console today. Nightmarish. It'll take a while. I didn't cry. I need you to know I didn't. In technical terms that was a long sigh sigh several catches in it. The good news is; I think I will know how much gas I have and be able to see it at night too. Also if I can recycle this electrical tape, I'm going to be a rich man!
Wondering where this mythical dash light that lights things is....
Need to fit this rear window somehow that makes sense...
Future adventures are;
Cruise control
AC in some form or fashion (please God!)
aftermarket alarm and electric doorlocks
More, and decent, speakers (I'm used to my Monsoon sound)
Weatherstripping T-tops and back window (rain outside good, inside no)
fixing the horrific timing and stuck Holley floats.
adjusting the speedometer (it's short stroking me)
Xenon headlights that don't point at the ground.
interior lights in the T-top brace (only have the cargo light now)
rearview mirror with map lights (heh, gotta see)
secondary fusebox (look like I'm wearing the car swapping fuses now)
electric windows moved to secondary fusebox
diffuser lenses over the white dash indicators
chambered exhaust
suspension bushings
composite rear spring
Full wiring diagrams
figure out how the alternator is charging with that wire off it...
many other mods plus...... a cup holder!
Get used to me. I think I'll be here a while.....
The bulb that illuminates the HVAC controls is just below the upper lip of the dash. So it "shines down from above". It is a fisheye type bulb.
Here's a picture of my 78'. The bulb is just above and between the 2 vent ducts and peeks out of the hole.

Filled more of the profile stuff out. Gotta run to work now tho....
Later.....
is a light in the cig lighter and heater control. I have the optional map
lite (original cost $5) works great in complete darkness. If you are
going to change the heater control lens might as well get the complete
kit because you have to take completely apart to change it. There is
also a bulb in the ww switch. And just FYI even if the fan is off it will
stay on low tnx to govt regs. Do you have astro ventilation? Mine was
made in June of '75 so I only have parts of it.

Where is the maplight located? I had originally figured to replace the rearview mirror with a later model with map lights. Since I'm thinking of grafting a dome light in the T-top brace, running another line forward to the mirror doesn't seem like too much more to do. So far as I know I don't have astro ventilation. Haven't really researched it enough to know one way or the other yet.
Luckily I got off work early this morning. Half a mile down the road the dash/gauge lights went off. I think maybe I should go with my first instinct and take the snipper to all that gauge wiring and wire it from scratch.
