Default Speaker?

I put 6.5 component in the kick panels and when I painted my dash about a year ago I put some in the dash (forgot what size). I’m also putting some in 6.5 in the back. Question, can I hook all of the fronts up by splicing the wires together or just stick to the ones in the kick panels?

Of course you can wire them together. The problem is that you will be changing the load on the amplification source. Add two four ohm speakers together you get a 2 ohm load. If you are running them off the head unit, this is a bad idea. If you are running them off an amp, make sure the amp can handle a 2 ohm stereo load. Remember, that by halving the load on the power source, you are (roughly) doubling the power. Your front speakers will be maxed out in volume and clipping power far before your rear speakers.

You can try them all at once, but I think you will be happier not hooking the dash speakers back up.

Three words. Amp the speakers.

The head unit will run stock speakers because they are low wattage. After market speakers are usually of a higher wattage and running off of a head unit they will usually sound like poop at high volumes.

An amp can easily be mounted several places in a C3 for the speakers to be run from.

If you MUST use the head unit's built in amplifier, try to use 8 OHM speakers or 2 OHM speakers. If they are 8s then wire them in parallel and if they are 2s wire them in series. Either way you end up with a 4 OHM load.

If they are normal 4 ohm car speakers you could wire in series.

There should be only 1 set of front speakers for clean sound. A second set will normally muddy the sound.
Best to remove the dash speakers & leave it open. All the dash location is really good for is tweeters, though one would normally want the tweeters near the primary front speakers.
