IMO, that attempt is a fail, I agree, but the trick is to keep the hole/opening much smaller, like I did, decreased the opening size by 50% to the rear, moved the later camaro bulbs forward on the Ecklers sugar scoops by almost 1/2 way, keeping same height centerline for legality, and building my own mounts using stainless screws, GOOP glue and PVC plastic 1x2 from like Lowes Depot...
what that allows is less geekey looking huge opening, eliminates those terrible airflow blocking old stupid round bulbs from 40 years ago, and since the rear of the scoops are open now, the airflow is free around the lamps and out the back, more airflow is always nice....
