My 72 454 has currently a flat alternator pulley/belt and is mounted on the Passenger side of the engine. I want to replace this pulley with the v-belt type. and mount it on the drivers side.
Questions:
Can I just replace this pulley/belt combination?
What pulley/belt (size, length etc) combination do I need?
And off course best place to buy?
The alt is on the drivers side on my stock 454. Alt is driven off of the power steering pulley, So you should be able to order the stock setup from any corvette supplier.
Greg.
p.s. mine has ac, and power steering. that may make a difference.

Hmm, yes I know where to buy them, But my question is can I just change them, or are there any specifics that I should check out first. Another question from my supplier is do I need a 55 or 53 1/2"
Hey, I think you have to consider the pulley ratio. If your pulley is not the right size your alternator will make less rpm's and maybe not charge well (enough).
