.. but not with my C3.. The race C3 is still in pieces.. Raced my stock '92 C4 today and made it to the final.. Ran dead on 14.501 on a 14.50 dial in the final
In the 1/4 final, I ran 14.48 on a 14.47 dial and a .003 light
Also moved up in points and I'm now 3rd in points for the year (after 4 of 6 races)
It was my 3rd Corvette Challenge with the C4 and I went to the final of the May Corvette Challenge and now won the July Corvette Challenge.. I'm considering going Super Pro with the '68 and might continue racing the '92 in the Corvette Challenge..

WTG, GS. My stock street-tired '92 6-peed did a best of 13.52. I thought that was pretty good.
I'm sure that you didn't run 13.52 in a 107 degrees heat index with extreme humidity.. My '92 is automatic with stock 2.59 gears
Those weren't too fast from the factory.. As I said, it will run 13's in zero DA but not in the conditions we are having right now..
The car got slower as the day progressed and temperatures got hotter:
14.41, 14.43, 14.45, 14.48 and 14.50
Made more passes but was on the brakes on 2 of the passes, so the ET isn't really representative..

Actually, yes. It's always hot and humid in Austin. The times were achieved during summer evening test and tunes, hot lapping. Remember the stick C-4's came with 3.45:1 rear gears. Your gear is killing e/t, for sure.

Not really concerned about that ET's, just consistency... and the car did well.. Figured out how to dial the car...
Yes, you have that pegged. Better to be consistent than quick in bracket racing.
Well, quick has it's advantages in bracket racing.. If you always go 2nd (as the faster car), you have more time to bring the RPM to launching RPM and it's also difficult for the opponent to play at the end of the track (stepping on the brakes) as it's difficult to judge a car that is coming at 40 mph faster speed...
My friend's wife has a 95 LT1 convertable, auto with the highway gears, I believe they are 2.78s or something weird like that. Anyway completely stock on a 90* day(high humidity here in Houston), she went 14.00s with it. I hopped in it, iced down the intake and went a 13.90@100. A few months later in the fall we ran it again, only this time he had a Magnaflow muffler kit on it and a K&N filter, temps in the low 80s and it went a 13.59@101. I almost couldn't believe it. I think the temps really hurt those aluminum intake LT1. I thought 13.50s out of a basically stock auto vert was AWESOME.

13.90 in hot temps is pretty fast for a stock C4.. I had a 100% stock C5 auto ('98 Vert) and it ran about 13.85 in summer and 13.40 in winter..
I know that on both, C4's and C5's, the air intake can make .3 or more difference...
Well, you're running drag radials. Combined with the gears, you are not getting much (if any) wheel spin. Makes for very consistent 60 ft. times. I'm only a little jealous.

My 60' times were actually faster with street tires but not as consistent.. My best 60' time was 2.062 on street tires... Haven't run below 2.08 on drag radials so far... I'm running Nittos. They are not the stickiest drag radials out there but they are the only ones that can be used on the highway (unless driving in a rain storm at 70+ mph). Drove on the Nittos to Houston once and got into a rain storm on I-10.. Had to slow down to 60 mph as the car was all over the place at 70 mph.. Felt very loose
I remember going 80+ mph on Falkens before during heavy rain and the car felt very secure.. Love them Falkens for the street.. They are also not that bad at the track and cost less than most other tires.. Great value!!
I'm very happy with the C4 so far. Picked it up for a very low price and everything on the car works.. It had 136k miles when I bought it and now I'm at about 141k and still no issues.. Doesn't burn too much oil (1 qt in about 3k miles - that's very acceptable) and after I changed the tranny fluid, the transmission also started to act consistent.. Great bracket car... especially considering the purchase price..

Way to go! The races here in NJ at Etown are extremely competitive, and I bet yours are too. What I mean is, there are a lot of very good bracket racers. They race a lot, take it very seriously, and are very consistent. It is definitely an advantage to being the quicker car. As the slower car I have gone red a couple times giving an instant win to my faster opponent.
I didn't race today, because as some of you know, my gas tank is out of the car!
