I believe this was ~Memorial Day 1978...my first brush with the Vette world. My HS Biology teacher owned a raging cool 66 roadster. Pic was recently "found" in an old composite. Kodak Instamatic...scanned and archived!
27 years later (Aug 05), bringing home my first...long stretch but worth the wait.
the vette bug bit me in 5th grade when I saw a 63 split window coupe for the first time. For my b-day my mom took me to the hobbie shop to buy a slot car. all my friends were buying indy car bodies & I picked a black 63 s-w coupe. when the body cracked after a lot of races I replaced it w/a 68 vert body. If I could have any two they would be the ones.
I've had it since day 1. My dad was just finishing up a body off restoration on a Riverside Gold 1969 Vert when I was born. Ever since I can remember I've been in love with that car (he still has it). The time finally came a couple months ago, and I got my own 1981. I've divided my life into B.C. and W.C., Before Corvette and With Corvette
I was bitten in 1977. A friend had a 75 4 speed he let me drive all the time. Even though a "dog" base engine, it was still fairly quick and fun to drive. It took 30 years but the dream finally happened!

Heres my 73 L82 I had in the early 90s.
Didn't know what I had.
I traded my 68 firebird 4 speed for it at a car lot.
Strange thing is while sitting on my porch last year, it drove by and stopped at a lite long enough for me to ID it being mine at one time.
It was sitting at a stoplite long enough for me to see several things I did to it that was still on it, also I traded it away from my area!
Im on my thrid one now.

Reason: straiten out some words!

I have loved Vette's since I was a kid. I finally wound up with a neighbor back in the early eighties that had a '79 L82. Red, glass tops, spoilers, etc. Beautiful car. He also had a '69 Camaro which I owned briefly. I've always loved the '69 Camaro's too. The C3's are by far my favorite Vette. Maybe because that's what I grew up with. Hey, and now we get to hang out on the forum and talk about them too. Ain't life grand??
Here's me in my parents' brand new '77 (they still have it. It only has 19,000 miles on it). I was 10.
That didn't happen to be in Missouri, did it? I have a framed picture in my garage of a silver 77 with the alarm key in the fender and side flags. It has 77/78 black/gold Missouri plates on it. I found the picture at a local Goodwill store for $1.

No, that was in Seattle, Washington, in a neighborhood known as Magnolia. The car has never been further east than Spokane, Washington.
Here's a picture that makes me cry. I bought this car in 1970 for $600. I was the luckiest 17 year old in the world and didn't know it. That car would be worth 100 times that today.
Cool thread. For some reason, I didn't take any pictures the day I brought the vette home. This is the first one I have. It was taken about a month after I got it and after buffing the paint to try and bring it back to life. It didn't work.

Thats HWY 1 I love that drive. I think its bixby bridge. I have always had the bug for a Vette. My uncle had one that was all mod's and man was it fast.. What a thrill.
