I recieved a three piece Pace Car spoiler last week, and got arround to painting it today. I had toyed around with leaving it semi gloss black, but upon installing it, the black just didn't look right. So popular opinion taken into account I painted it to match the body.
Before:
After:
Three piece Spoiler: $140.00
Supplies left over from paint job: $000
Not having any bugs crash land in the fresh paint:
PRICELESS
Thanks, STAR79
It think looks good with the side pipes also. It seemed to be lacking something just having the pipes without the front spoiler.
Did you buy your headlight covers, or make them yourself?
In your avitar it appears that the center section is black, am I correct, or is it just the pic?

I bought the cover from Frank Gregorian, made the buckets/inside parts myself.
In the avatar picture the bottom part is just shade, not black. In fact if you look closely, that pic is kind of a Photoshop trick. I wanted the shade to be symmetrical, so the left side of the pic is a mirror image of the right

Sorry for the hijack, but Star79... what exactly is going on with the side gills... I can't see them clearly.

Those are actually stickers, they were on the car when I bought it. From 10+ feet away they look like real gills. Here's a far-away shot, I'll take a close-up later today. They're very well made, they're 4 individual stripes and they shade from front to back to look really realistic.
Hey-now....those spoilers look great! I also have a chin spoiler on my
79, but with metal support back plates on one side only. I am curious if your chin spoiler came with those support pieces? Sorry, I don't have a pic, but the outer support is about 12" long X 1 1/4" wide and matches the fender contour in front of the front wheel. The other support simply mates the corners with the cross piece. There are a total of four. I am looking for a source to get the two I am missing.

Thanks, my one side without the metal supports has just the bolts and appears and functions fine. I was wondeing if anyone has the metal supports on their front spoiler? I don't see detail info on spoilers in any books I have on Corvettes.

Mine has the two curved metal pieces that follow the contour of the fender already rivited to the two side pieces when I got it. The top has a stud (1/4 x20) sticking out, and two other holes that have (1/4x20)nuts welded to them.
I honestly didn't know there were supposed to be two more where the center section mates to the outer pieces. (ididn't look at the AIM)
The center on mine mates to the outer pieces with a (for lack of a better term) tounge, and groove joint.
This exactly describes what I have on my driverside only. You must have bolts holding the cross piece to the fender. The other support is an L shaped piece that starts just below the side support. My AIM does not show the spoiler or supports. I can't find them in my 79 Service Manual either. Does anyone have a part number, maybe they are still available from GM.
