Biggest Tires
Anyone know the biggest tire that you can fit on a stock 81 wheel? I've been at a couple cruise nights and seen some late 70's Vettes with 255 Radial T/A's all around. I definately want the T/A's since it's my daily driver, but I think the look of more rubber is awesome. Can you go bigger than 255? I don't want to change wheels or anything, just the biggest tires on stock wheels w/ no modifications.

I don't know about 80, but I am pretty sure on the early 70's vettes any bigger than 255/60 would require trimming and/or moving some components on the rear.
I have 255/60 rear and 245/60 front on stock rally rims. Fits well, the 255/60 would have rubbed a bit on the front of my particular hand crafted car, but some fit fine.

255/60-R15 were optional in '80. That's what I have all round. Any wider and you'll have rubbing problems in the front. I have a couple minor rub spots from sharp turns before I intalled Steeroids.
