Back in the day GM would classify surfaces.
Class A would be the body surface
Class B would be under deck lids under hoods and jams.
Some cars would not have clearcoat under hoods and deck lids.
Dosen't make it right, but that call was made higher up in the ladder.
I don,t think you can compare what was mass produced, to an individual that will make it right till his hands bleed.
