Thanks for the welcome everone. this forum seems like a great place to learn more about the vette. Just to clear the air, it wasnt his grandfather, it was his father, my mistake... My uncle married my fathers sister, making him my uncle. Hope that clears the air.
I will be taking a lot of pics this weekend. Right now I am on vacation & will be returning on the weekend.
Long term plans for the car will be a streetable drag car. It's an 11 second car now, (with no traction). I plan on backhalfing the car & doing a straight axle, removing the independent rear. Just not strong enough to handle the power I plan on making. This winter, the engine & tranny come out & get rebuilt. Staying with the lower compression ratio to handle a 6-71 or better blower. I plan on making it into the 9's. I have a great platform to begin with!!
Welcome aboard! This is really a great forum with many kind and helpful people willing to give advice, suggestions and opinions. Good luck and best wishes with your pride and joy. Watch out for the Corvette Family Wave as you drive her around.
I think you've got the right idea. Put that car on the road for the rest of the warm season and see what really needs to be fixed safety wise and mechanically before tearing into it for upgrades. That way you know better what you have, and can better plan the upgrades (i.e, some things may not need to be fixed becase they will be replaced). If you're going to a straight axle setup, you don't care if the rear wheel bearings are worn out.
Its funny you say that weimer20, I was driving the vette the very first day I owned it & some guy passing in the other direction in a z06 gave me the wave. I looked at my wife in the passenger seat & said, "huh, it must be a corvette thing, I like it".
Like I said, pics will be here as soon as I get back from vacation this weekend. Right now, the vette is sitting quietly in the garage.
Hey! Welcome to our therapy group. We're always glad to see a new C3 guy here, especially a young pup like you. Now here's the deal. C3 people are visual. That's why we own C3s. The wasp waist, swells front and back, the curves, long, lean, oozing with...
Sorry, I drifted off there for a second.
Anyway, the point is, we are VISUAL. You need to include pictures!

Howdy BLOWN74 ..... Welcome .... this is a great forum. Look for a forum member called Mayberg he keeps a pretty good database of info on 74 model 454's. I have a white 74 BB Vert and a 72 base T-Top. I really prefer the 74.
I read your post, but didn't see....Is yours a T-Top or a ragtop ?
Today is the photo shoot. When I got back from vacation, it rained for 2 days. I will be taking her out of the garage later today & taking some pics. I will be posting tonight! SO STAY TUNED!!!
