I need to move my coupe from South West Minnesota to CA in the next few weeks. Can any one recommend a transporter.
I am nervous about going blind from the phone book.
I know you can cover things with insurance but that just aint the point.
So any recommendations will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Tony
DOnt, Dont, Dont use a broker. Pay the extra few bucks to use a reputable company. Make sure you dont use National Auto transport out of Miami. They will tell you they have trucks and they dont...
How do you know the differance, all the companies I have looked at say the same things and don't make it clear if they carry them selfs or broker it on.
I also have concerns about my car being staying on the one truck and not being off loaded half way.
Try Intercity, Horseless Carriage, you should see if you can get your eyes on an issue of Hemmings to look for more,,,but like was said previously, DONT use a company that deals with you through a broker. I guess some might be O.K. but you wouldnt find that out till after you get the run-a-round. Good Luck, Peace,,,Moosie
There is another site to check also, I think it is www.transportblacklist.com
Pretty helpful too. Never use a broker! Ask specifically if they are a broker, and if the answer is vague, move on. Make sure the driver that picks the car up is the same one who will deliver it. If you have a classic car dealer in your area, ask them who they use.
Used FedEx to ship my '69 roadster from CT to IL last April. Very quick, good price, super nice and professional. I'd use them again tomorrow.
Online quotes, too.
I just used Passport/Fedex and it was a reasonable price and it took about a week to go from St. Louis to Dallas. The only complaint I have is my car got dripped on. Luckily it was just oil and came right off. I'd use them again.
In the past, I used Dependable Auto Shippers but they bumped the front and rear of the car and so about a half dollar size area of paint was missing on both ends. They were reasonable and did pay for it without hassle, but still it was annoying.
