Default kick pannel removal

will i hav to remove that whole pannel that the map pocket is in to remove my passenger side kick pannel? or would the driver side be easier?

rust check, either a HUGE head ache, or a HUGE weight lifted off the ol sholders

On my 77 it needs to be loosened up a bit, but not pulled out. It fits very tight and can be difficult to get in and out. Not sure if one side is easier than the other. Good luck!

Hello,

The lower front edge of the kick panel is held down by the sill plate.
Thus, you must remove the sill plate in order to remove the kick panel.

Once the sill plate is removed, carefully slide the kick panel up and
away and you should see your incoming floor vents and the side of your
birdcage.

Not so bad. I'd take a wire brush or dremel to get the loose rust off and then paint it with rustoleum. Don't know if it's even bad enough to bother with rust Bullet or POR15.

Have you checked your birdcage? Water got down there somehow.

Hey Miles,
I did the same thing you did, and mine looked very similar. I just cleaned them up and sprayed some rustoleum inside. You dont have much to worry about when it comes to those body mounts. I would post some before/after pics but im at work...

Hopefully others with more knowledge of this will chime in, but I'd remove the windshield trim and have a look under there. Might be worth taking the car to a window replacement shop to have the trim removed. Easy job with the right tools and possibly even without, but if there is rust underneath and the clips are bound, you'll damage te trim and spend a small fortune replacing it.

Looks to me like that area has had a significant repair done. The fiberglass on the leading edge looks like pretty ameteur work. The glob of resin hanging off the bolt head in the second pic looks a little suspect.

I think the amount of rust in that area is pretty significant and may indicate you have more serious rust problems elsewhere.

I agree there has been a repair there. That is an odd place to have a repair without having major trauma elsewhere in the area. Maybe a repair of a Bubba speaker installation. Better pull back the carpet and take a look. Also look at the area from the other side.

Rust looks like surface rust. Pull the bolt, clean up the area, and use a rust treatment or encapsulator. Several on the market from automotive paint stores or check with Eastwood.com.

Also is that a broken bolt head sitting in there?
