Get a year One catalog, prepare to go to all the Chevy shows around, collect all Camaro parts catalogs he can get, and get a tetanus shot.

There is usually so much rust on these cars, he will get cut and need one.

Find someone who knows them, like the different Camaro web sites and forums.

You might get more response in the Off Topic section with the F Bodies.

He and you should get to know JohnZ.

Join a forum, first thing. Second thing is do a thorough evaluation of the car and figure out where to start, problem areas etc.

How old is it? First gen? Rick's first gen is very good for parts. D&R has gotten quite a lot of my money too.

camaros.net for the forum questions and modifications. Go to camaros.org for the fine intimate originality details and stats on first gens. LOTS of early Camaro stuff there.

The last car I restored was a 68 Camaro
Sold it to finance the resto of the Vette

Agree with the above, join a forum, buy a few resto books, and read up on the subject before taking things apart

Photograph everything. Everyone plans to restore a car in a few weeks which means they can usually remember where all the parts go.

But most end up over years and it is really hard to remember which washer went where 2 years a later.

So close up detailed photos are your only chance to get it all back. With digital cameras, it isn't like it costs too much to take extra pictures. Take a general picture of the area for reference, then close ups of everything in that area. Shoot a few different angles, and shoot again as things come apart as parts will be uncovered that you couldn't see before.

Buy a lot of baggies, and bag and tag everything that comes off the car.
