Default Performer RPM intake

After reading nothing but good reviews on the Performer RPM intake, i'm gonna try one. It will be replacing an older Edelbrock Tarantula tm1 manifold. Engine really does run strong with this intake, but my thinking is it should benefit more with a dual plane. Question is, will the Performer RPM be a little too much manifold for a stock, except side mount headers,1968, 327-350? This is for my 64 coupe,3:55 rear, 4-sp.

No, that's a great manifold for that engine. Just don't overcarburate. What are you using for a carb -- a 650 Holley or Edelbrock?

The RPM is a great intake, I think your old intake is more then needed for your stock motor. the only thing is the RPM maybe to tall to fit under your hood. you should check the height of the RPM before you buy. go to edelbrock.com they give specs on all their intakes. G/L

Thanks guys. I measured three times, just to be sure, and it will fit. I have a stinger hood.

You should be very happy with the RPM. While the Tarantula is a fine intake, it's at its best on the track at higher rpm's. The Performer RPM will give you better idle characteristics and low end performance, but would suffer very slightly at high rpm's compared to a single plane, but for a street car, you'll be happier.

I swapped out a performer/Qjet with a performer rpm air gap/Holley on my chevy. Noticed a little stronger midrange to top end. They say the performer is 0-5000 rpm and the performer rpm air gap is 1500-6000 rpm. The difference isn't that much but the air gap looks 10 times cooler.
