Why not, GM does. Actually some of the best stuff and some of the worst stuff comes from China. Many of their repro parts don't fit well without much modification, ('55 Chevy stuff from Danchuk) often quality control is non existent. However, I recently purchased some Chinese pistons and cylinders for my VW that were very high quality, they even had some Nikasil liners that were works of art.
You have to be a informed shopper these days. When I bought all my suspension parts I told the guy I wanted Moog-Made in the U.S.A , no foreign crap.....the boxes say "made in U.S.A." sure hope so!
On a rotisserie restoration I was doing on a 66 mustang, the made in Taiwan panels were crap, thinner gauge and poor stampings, the Made in U.S.A. were heavy gauge and correct stampings!
thats why i get most of parts at napa. not everything i get says made in the usa but at least the majority of stuff is. autozone might as well be named cheap junk chinazone
I always look for USA made parts first and buy them. Sometimes you just don't have a choice though. I will not buy any Chinese or third world made made steering, suspension or brake parts because the quality control is questionable. It is not worth the risk. Look at the Chinese made rag joints machined with the flat upside down so when you install it your steering wheel is upside down, and they don't supply the proper shoulder bolts with them (not safe) or the copper screen so your horn will work. Looks like a Saginaw OEM part but is a POS. Yeah, real quality goods there. Thats just one example.
Nope, none of that junk for me unless there is no alternative.
NAPA's rotors are US made, and not terribly expensive.
Purchased Raybestos USA made rotors and replaced the original GM Rotors last year on my C-2 with them because it was time. Being in the Auto Parts business and seeing what is going on I figured I better grab the USA made ones while I still could. Now I see Raybestos will be if they didn't already start importing their rotors soon. I would suspect Napa and everyone else to do the same. The US Companies can't compete with China labor prices. Yes plenty of the stuff coming from China is garbage but they are catching up on so many things anymore. Nonetheless I rather have American made parts on my car when and if they are available. I would suggest anyone thinking of a rotor change in the near future to start checking now for USA made rotors if that is what you truely want for your car. I would buy them now before you can't get them anymore.

I may sound radical... but I believe we ought to tax the living daylights out of imported stuff that way you pay more to get a chinese (&etc.) part! We need to drive out the foreign competition!
I prolly should stop here otherwise I am gonna start ranting off !
If the part is an "appearance" part only, and it isn't available anywhere else....I would likely buy a Chinese part. If it's a structural or "working" part, I search hard for American or European made stuff. I've seen lots of Chinese parts that look OK but aren't "up to snuff" when it comes to good steel, proper heat treating, or dimensional quality.

i agree, i think we depend too heavily on some countries
There isn't much left anymore made in the USA. Ever company is outsourcing to these countries for cheap labor. I noticed on a product the other day, instead of saying "Made in the USA" it said "Designed in the USA". Who remebers when something said "Made in Japan" meant it wa a peice of ****. We sure let a lot of these countries take a lot of buisness away. I am in engineering and in the US an electrical engineer rate is $120 p/hr, Canada $110, Poland $60, and China $40. We are even outsourcing professionals now!

"Made in Japan" used to mean "garbage." Now it's a mark of quality. The Chinese-made tools have really improved in the past 10 years or so...now the real crap comes out of India.
My Timken front wheel bearings were made in Poland of all places...

Yeah...we want everyone to tariff the living bejezus out of our exports. Great plan...
Flame me if you need to but first think of how much the american worker expects to make per hour and how much actual work will be done and then think of why we rely on imported parts for an affordable alternative, the best was when the price of milk went up here in N.Y. and there was talk of importing it from China,,,WTF,,,,,this is after the government in it infinite wisdom bought out dairy farmers in N.Y. . I am sure its like that in other states too. Most of all these decisions are made without John Q. Public being aware of it untill we wind up on the check-out line and are shocked by the price, country of origin or quality or lack there of, I have no answers, only questions. Peace,,,Moosie

You know what you maybe right... I guess we all need to tie huge bricks to ourselves and go jump into the atlantic. That is basically what we are doin... 30 years ago our economy was based approximately 74 % industry and 24% percent service now its the other way around.. Hmm, I wonder what would have caused that?
If you didn't like my plan
I guess we could just no import it all... Thats what the Japanese do to us, but you don't see us stop importing their stuff!
