Question for those of you that have broken down on long trips; how do you call for a tow truck? Do you call information and hope I can figure out where I am (mile marker), is there a number I can call for road side assistance, do I call my insurance company? Not that I plan on breaking down but I carry local numbers around where I live in the glove box. I was just curious if it happens in the middle on nowhere.
I have the premium membership at AAA gives me 100 miles of towing and gas if needed. worth the money..
I've never broken down in any of my cars (knock on wood) but I keep a set of emergency parts in the car (points, plugs, cond, cap, tie wraps, tape etc) and a small bag of tools. Along with the AAA membership a fully charged cell phone is a must.
My collectors insurance includes free towing among other emergency roadside assistance.
I only need to call the ins co and they will contract a local towing company to transport the car.
I have towing through Hagerty and I also have the AAA Plus coverage just in case. Additionally, never leave home without a cell phone. Even if its just to the beer store.
I am insured with Hagerty and they provide FREE flat bed towing. All you do is call their 1-800 number listed on your insurance card and they dispatch a truck. I have used them twice and both times was very quick and painless. It does not efect your rates either.
