Normally, in most model years C16 would represent October 16th, however since the 1970 model run was delayed due to an extended 1969 model run, you're C16 represents March 16th, 1970 build date.
Look at your metal trim plate located on the drivers side door hinge area of the body. Now look at the upper right corner, you'll will see a letter followed by two numerical digits. That is the build date of the Corvette body, the cars are usually completed a day or so within that date.

Not quite. That's the date the trim tag was stamped and attached to the car part way down the ***'y line. It rolled off the line under it's own power 1-2 days later.
