What are the signs that your fuel pump is shot other than the car won't start. I can't even get the car to roll over other than what the starter can do. If I put some gas directly into the carb it will kick and want to go but it will not go. I am by know means an engine master so sorry if this is an easy question to answer.
You could have a plugged fuel filter or line..... my tank was pretty rusty and the rubber fuel line off the tank was blocked..... make sure you've got a good fuel supply to the pump before you replace it
With the car COLD NOT HOT. Disconnect fuel line to carb. Pull coil wire at dist, if electronic disconnect Bat terminal. Have some crank the car for a short time. Hold a clean rag or cup over the end of the gas line and see if gas flows into rag or cup.
Ok, so fuel pump pumps fuel, so anyone have an idea why it won't go? Starter will crank it over but it won't roll over, seeming like no fuel, but must be somethin else.
Help Please. Its cruise weekend and I can't get my car going!!!
You know the pump is working. If you pour gas down the carb she putters. Check the gas filter. If you took it out make sure you put it in the right way and not backwards. If backward carb gets no gas. If not sure take filter and spring out and try to start without filter.
The pump was pumping gas through the filter when I tested it, Does this mean the filter is ok? I can get it to sputter if I pour gas directly into the carb though.
There is a filter at the tank and right before the carb. I don't know how to tell if there is one in the carb? I don't know the model of the carb. The in line filters are still allowing flow cause i unhooked the fuel line at the carb to check that. Is it possible for the carb to be plugged. Should air be able to get through where the fuel line attaches on the carb?
If you could post a pic that would be helpful if not look at my picture. See were the gas line connects to the carb remove that nut may be 9/16 or 5/8. If there is a filter there you will see it.
Not sure, but looks like there should be a filter in there...my quadrajet does....
Have you cleaned inside of your carb with Berryman Carb cleaner or anything ???

I know you got gas from the filter. Disconnent fuel line at filter & carb and blow through fluel line. Make sure it's clear. In one of your pics there is someting in the inlet of the fuel for the carb. Take a long nose pliers and see it that piece will come out.
