I was playing around and fuel is definetly getting to the carb. When I pump the gas without key on fuel is squirted in from the front of the carb under, what I am assuming is, the choke plate.(remember I am not wheres close to and expert on carbs) If you pump the gas a few times like this then turn the key it will burn off that gas then nothing. I am not sure that the little piece comes out but I will check. Can I use carb cleaner without the car running? Anyway thanks for the help so far, and keep the suggestions coming, there is still time to make cruise weekend fun
It never actually runs, but I don't put in much gas either. How long should it run and on how much gas? It does start going enough that under normal situations you would let the key off to run from start.
The fuel line is clear the whole way. The carb is getting fuel.
If the carb is squirting fuel into the bowl when you exercise the throttle and the car sputters as this is happening: 1) your engine could be flooded and will be hard to start; or [if it has sat long enough to clear the extra fuel] you have an ignition problem due to coil/points or elec. module/distibutor fault. If the engine is "trying" to start, it has to be fuel or spark problem.

Pull a couple plugs and see if they are wet.Have you tried the procedure for starting a flooded engine? At this point how much fuel do you think you have inside engine,if its alot stop change plugs and oil.1973--Is it points ignition?I know lots of questions but you might not "want" this to engine to fire.Pull some plugs first.
I will look into it. I am trying to get my cousin to come help me out. He is a mechanic so he should be able to help. Thanks for all the help, I will let you know how it goes.
