I bought a set of front springs from and when I went to install them the sping ends didn't line up with the spring pockets. If I put the spring in so that the end of the spring sat in the pocket of the control arm the top end of the spring would be about a quarter of a turn from fitting in the pocket of the frame. Do the spring ends need to sit in those pockets or could I turn it so that each end would be about an eighth of a turn out on both ends? It seems to me that if those springs are supposed to made for a corvette that they should be a perfect fit. I did buy them from a forem member and assumed they were for a C3. I have a 74 T-top,sb. Thanks in advance for any input.
The springs should line up in the top pocket and fall wherever in the bottom pocket if I'm not mistaken. I have to look this up again because I'm about to install springs myself but I think the spring end on top should cover 1/2 of the hole in the upper pocket. The last time I installed a spring I stuck a screwdriver into the hole to act as a stop since the spring had an annoying habit of turning while being compressed.
I have a 79 and cut the bottom coil 1 turn to lower the car. When reinstalled the coil bound up so I had to do it again and use a tie down strap to pull it inwards so when the jack was dropped it went straight up into the pocket without binding.
Update, I installed the springs last night and when I compresed them they seem to fit real good. I would have never believed they would from just test fitting them. Thanks all for the advise. I am going to make sure the top of the spring is in place.
