No one saying they're going to make you half a second faster 0-60, but the technology's certainly not in the same category as fuel magnets or electric fan-turbos...
I think you'll find the trend towards PWM is more due to the auto makers trying to claw back any scraps of fuel consumption they can, by making lots of little changes. A lot of engine control systems are traditionally of the "bang on/bang off" type, buy PWM is a way of better matching supply with demand, not just for cooling.
But hey, pretty sure no-one's bought one of these DCC things for the potential fuel consumption reduction!
