Can anyone share their experience with installing turnkey motor ?
My friend bought a 72 vette without a motor or trans and he is considering getting a turnkey motor. (Something like this one)
Buying and installing a turnkey motor looks like an easier task than buying separate parts and putting it all together with the motor.
They are a great way to go. A lot of bang for the buck, and a warranty. The only thing you will need to do is add electric fans to your vette. When a GM crate motor is set up with serpentine belt you cannot put your fan on them because the fan will spin in reverse. So you get no cooling from it. GM uses a long style water pump and it is reverse flow.
Check engine height to be sure hood will close with serpentine system.
