Just about to complete a 454 transplant in an '80 L82. The waterpump pullie (2 groove) doesn't line up with the crank pullie. I'm a 1/4 inch off. I do have the short water pump, but can only find one size of pump pullie. I need one that is 1/4 inch thinner. any ideas, or numbers?
67-69 Camaros have the same pulley setups. What side is the alternator mounted. To correctly use the short pump {which is correct by the way} the alt should be on the left with a independent cast bracket bolted to the head.

Thanks for the pic, it will help.
The line up prob is with the waterpump to the crank pullie. The waterpump pullie sits back toward the engine, 1/4 inch too far. I got both the crank and waterpump pullies from Summit. I'm thinkin' about machining a spacer to put behind the waterpump pullie to shim it into line. I can't seem to find the proper pullies for my application. It's just a 454 that I stuffed into an '80 L-82.
(nice pic by the way)
I've tried Summit and Ecklers with no luck on a spacer. Do I need to go to GM? The line up of the pullies is the only thing holdin' me back from my first start-up.
I just looked at the site ya posted, they mention pressing the flange on further to use the spacer in certain aplications. Do ya think I could just pull the flange out 1/4" instead?
Thanks for the help BTW, I've been goin' nuts here.

You could try but it will probably take a press to move it.The flange goes on but I dont know if it will back up.Look at the front edge where it goes over the shaft its sorta a one-way knife edge. Here is a pic of 2 diff. crank pulleys. One is 3/4 on center of the grooves and the other is 5/8.
O.K., I understand what ya mean by the knife edge. I have 3/4 inch to the center, between pullie grooves. My pullie has a tower that extends aprox 1 1/2" from the outboard groove. That appears to be my critical measurement. I figure it should be 1 1/4" in order for the inboard grooves to line up. Then everything will line up just fine.
Thanks again!
