My '70 350-350hp, 4 speed, t-top, seems to have some vibration around 3000rpm 4th gear. she cruises nice at 60mph 25-2900rpm. i get her up to 70mph @3000rpm and she gets a little vibration. It is not even worth mentioning really but I thought it is not as smooth @ 70 mph as it is at 65mph. But it seems to be drive line. I am wondering if it is drive shaft. U Joints. I installed a new clutch here in the spring could it be the pressure plate not balanced properly for 3000?
I do not know, maybe it is nothing. she still goes like crazy and handles fine, I am just wondering if everybody elses early C3 is the same at 70mph or do I have something going on. What is up with that?
I've had the same kind of vibration as well. I posted a thread several months back asking the same questions. The list of possible causes is pretty long. I checked just about everything suggested and still have it. At this point I'm not to concerned with it since most of my driving is at or below 3K rpm. I do want to eventually figure what 's causing it.
Here's some things to check:
Bad engine vibration dampner
enginr mounts
tranny mounts
out of balance drive shaft
check all u joints
tire balance
flywheel not centered when installed
bad pilot bushing
rear diff mounts
Hope this helps.
These thingdchecked out ok on my vette and still have it. Go figure.
Good luck, Glenn
I just got done reading your thread from the spring GD70. Theres a lot of info there. Sounds like the same issue. It seems like nothing, were I cann't feel it in the shifter or the steering wheel, that is why I was asking. I know it is not a perfectly balanced ferrari, maybe I'am expecting to much perfection from a 37 year old car. I suppose it gives me something to hunt down.
