As I mentioned in newbie section I recently purchased a 75 non vert that needs quite a bit of work. What I didn't mention is my wife doesn't know I bought it.
Anyway I am trying to figure out where to start. I am leaning towards the interior since that will be where she needs to be to feel the power. Are there carpet kits available for the interior? Can I do just behind the seats to get started or does everything have to be done at the same time?
Also where is the data plate located on a vette?

Can I do just behind the seats to get started or does everything have to be done at the same time? You can piecemeal the back half in terms of trim pieces, but I'm not sure about carpet.....the shifter console area is difficult, so you need to plan your resto to make sure you don't have to remove & install it again....
Also where is the data plate located on a vette? Data is located in various places....Trim tag is on the driver's side pillar.....there's also the shifter console data plate that ID's engine.....the smog sticker on the engine firewall on the driver's side also ID's engine...

Fooz,
Go to the websites for various aftermarket vendors like Ecklers, MidAmerica, Zip, Paragon, etc. and order their catalogs (no charge)
They are good sources for pictures and exploded drawings for your car.
If you are going to do any work on this car, the Assembly Manual which many refer to as the "AIM" (Assembly Instruction Manual) is something you should defintiely buy. It is sold by MidAmerica and Ecklers to name a few.
Shop around for price as the prices and the QUALITY and ORIGINALITY vary among vendors.
Ask lots of questions on this forum and you will get pointed in the right direction, unlike the first question you asked where everybody was just messin' with ya.
This is usually a very helpful and knowldegable bunch as we have all been where you are and likely have done what you are going to do.
Give us a chance to be more helpful, and by the way Welcome to the Forum and enjoy your new purchase.
Good luck with it ,

Foooz - I also have a '75. You can get a front or back carpet set or
a price for a complete set. If you do the front you probably want to
foil insulate under the carpet to help with heat issues. Depending on
the condition of the interior you can use spray "dye" to on most parts
to have a new look at little cost. You mentioned data plate - not sure
what you mean but - inside LH door jam is a plate that can tell you
original interior/exterior color. On the LH window frame is the VIN that
should match the VIN on the right front engine pad - under the front
on the valve cover. Hope that helps. This Forum is great just keep
asking questions -lots of experts here.

AND a bunch of smarta**es too!!, c'mon guys...fess up!!
Fooz, there a bunch of great people here....and knowledgeable, mostly tested by fire. Short tempered and ornery sometimes but they are good folks....
[QUOTE=foooz;1561839579].... What I didn't mention is my wife doesn't know I bought it.
tell her first of all, in a streight and quick way, face to face, showing some non-chalance, like if it was a big boy toy.
....then you can think about how to improve it.
personally, what i do when i want a new toy, i tell my wife first, if she says then i buy something bigger and more expensive, this way she's learnt through the years to say always 'oh good idea!'...

Welcome, i also have a 75 coupe, bought carpet, seat foam, and leather like vinyl for the seats from Mid America Motorworks, gutted out the interior and re did everything. Coated the interior with truck bed liner, laid down insulation and installed the new carpet. Stripped the seats down to the frames, sandblasted, re-welded, painted and recovered. Leather covered the steering wheel, re- sprayed a few interior trim pieces, and it looks showroom new. What i would do if i were you is make sure the car is in good working order before starting in any cosmetic's. Brakes, fluid change, etc. Good luck with your project
Okay so I am back and no I haven't been in the hospital since telling my wife about the vette. Let's just say I convinced her I should buy it after I bought it. Anyway, I just read through all the posts and got quite a laugh. I am looking forward to the information I can get from all the pros out there. So hang on the fun is just beginning.
