Default Museum???

G'day,
I disapprove of all the critical and unpleasant comments re its looks. Let's face it, the car was built in the 70's and, as such, is a "museum piece" of the times. My opinion is as follows:

The car should be preserved for posterity and the rightful place is the Corvette Museum. The rolling chassis should be removed and put under a stock 1970 body that has a rusted or bent chassis, thereby preserving an original car. The custom body should be dropped onto a straight, but not necessarily roadworthy chassis and touched up and finessed by Museum staff so that it may be put on display at the Museum in an area just for custom Corvettes. Like 'em or not, they are a part of Corvette history and for those who like to look at such cars, then the Museum is the rightful place. If you don't like to look at such cars, then just stay out of the "Corvette custom" room when you visit the Museum. As much as some of you hate these custom cars, and this is your right, there are others who find them fascinating and surely those people have the right to look at such cars.

What do others think of this?

Regards from Down Under

"Custom" is one thing; I would call this just "F'd up"

So because the owner is registered here, I can't say that is silly looking? One man's "cool" is another man's "WTF?! " To each his own.

I'm not a "purist" and I don't know WHO owns it but I'm certainly not bothered to say I don't like it. I can appreciate the work that's gone into it but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Again IMO, that's some serious YUCK going on there

I'd argue that this is a cool looking 'Vette and the Red one looks like something little red ridinghood would drive. It's all asthetics,, but the black one looks cool to me

I was at the Dr's office today, and picked up a Automobile mag, and saw a picture of this...

http://www.indiemonkey.com/firebird/

I think it said that 1978 sold for $150,000 at auction, and was recently restored. I was going to take the mag, but my son put it back.

Just thought I would post it because I remembered this thread. I know it's not a vette, but this is stuff that they did back in 70's.

WOW!!THANKS guy's you make this site so pleasant! But for the most part I agree with you,You have the right to your opinion.I'm Ok with that!I'm not sure that your right in the way you give it,but we were all raised different! As far as my car goes,I built it for ME and I share the pic's and work for those who are into that.I have put alot of time and effort in it and have done every inch of it myself.Anyone can buy one or have one built!(And that's OK too!) To each his own! My car is far from finnished, and gets judged alot!Mainly just for being different! What if they all looked a like???YAWN!!!Car shows would be a waste of time!(One car should do it!)So to have someone say that it's not for them or they don't like it is cool with me.But to have someone with an avitar of a customized vette in the weeds sporting a temp spare have the gall to throw a serious yuck in anyones direction. I'm not here to flame anyone!I think that it takes away from this site!I just don't see why some feel that they have the right or need to. It's easy to put down a car that is unfinnished, and I'm sure that there are plans for the car with the tempspare too!Probably some pretty cool ones.Go for it! Here's the real car as it is now.Flame on if you must, but I saved it for me!

Hey Hammer head,

Hey Man its your cookie bake it however you like.
I catch crap for the way i am restoring my 68 from some, but its never stopped me from waving my freedom flag as I rip by side cannons blaring

Personally, hammer head scares me, makes me want to go hide in the closet from the boogie man, like freddy is coming to get me at night with those headlights of your

as for the red wagon vette, I would buy it in a minute if the price was right and it wasnt all beat up, find me an ol 8 track player and break out the fog hat

To qoute Jimi
if 6 turned out to be 9 I dont mind

White collar conserevative pointing your plastic finger at me.....
Go ahead mr business man you cant dress like me.....

I think the Hammerhead car is petty cool. So, since it was brought into this thread, there have been about 4-5 positive comments and one The big problem is that this car was brought into a thread that was not too favorable of a station wagon looking vette. I think the poster was trying to make a point that the Hammerhead car is a pretty cool custom and the majority agreed. These threads are always a bad idea. As it has been said before, it's your car, build it the way YOU want it.
