My dash lights blew out last weekend and the fuse is a 5 amp AGA fuse. Little different in size tha nthe rest of them. Looking around I see some SFE, AGA, AGC,AGW, and a few different ones. Other tha nthe size what do these different letters mean. Are they slow blow, or have some kind of delay. Looking for electrical help on this just for general knowledge. Trouble finding the AGA fuse so far. Odd size not many parts stores carry them.
That was a good question. I didn't know the answer so I googled it. It appears that the letters on fuses refer to the size of them and the amps may vary greatly even in the same size. Take a looka t this website and note the different sizes: http://www.bussmann.com/6/GlassTubeFuses.html

That is the best I could come up with also was the size of the fuse. I didn't know if it was that simple or something a little more detailed. Maybe tha tis all it is, just a size difference.

Staples is about 3 miles from my house. I know exactly where you were.
Not only finding the right size but then to find a 5 amper is tough. I can order some as I see they are availbale but trying to find them local is tough.
The local NAPA store did the trick. They had the correct AGA fuses. A variety pack but it did come with 2 5 ampers.
That's what I had to do also. I had it blow 3 times in a couple of weeks a year or 2 ago. I found out that my problem was the clips that hold the fuse itself was a little rusty. After a little 320 sandpaper and di-electric grease I haven't blown it at all.
68 ragtop,
What does the die electric grease do?
Does it insulate, or does it improve conduction of current.
I have some but don't know what its function is.
Thank you,
Kurt

Kurt, the reason I used it was to keep the rust from causing the same thing again. When I first cleaned the contacts they began to get surface rust again within a week. That's when I put the di-electric grease on and there has been no new rust show up. I actually coated all the contacts at that time for insurance.
