Headlights on my '73 don't do anything. I put a vacuum pump on it and have vacuum to the tank, I plugged the tank hoses, still nothing, I tried to bypass the tank, still nothing .............could the tank be bad,it looks good???
If the tank holds a vaccum, then the tank is fine. Next in line are the valves. They are infront of your hood, on either side of the horn. They control the headlight actuators. If you bypass the valve, you can determine if the actuators are the problem or not. The override for the headlights is under the dash, by the trip odometer reset. Its a plastic "switch" that you pull down. If the orerride works, your headlight switch is the problem. If you need more info, do a search for headlights, the topic has been discussed in detail many times before.
Override switch does not work either, put vacuum on both actuators, they both opened and closed.......maybe both relays are bad. Where do the relays mount, looks like Bubba Zip tied them to the frame ????
Sounds like you need control relays. The fact that they are ziptied probably means the screw that holds them on probably broke off. Like I said earlier, they are mounted to either side of the horn. Look for the broken screws!
