She's finally alive!! After 2 yrs, I started my new 406 build last night for the first time and I couldn't be more pleased. A few cranks to get the juice flowing and VARROOOM!!! NO major issues after 30 minutes of running. (WHEW)
Got the timming dialed in on my temporary distrib, idel set, checked for leaks, (none) then did the John Houston happy dance (Treasure Of Sierra Madre) in the garage. My mild Crower hydraulic roller has a nice gentle lope, (230* 236* 544 & 555 @ 1.5 112 LSA) and the STS baffels sound AWSOME. Gonna play some more this weekend with seating the rings, (molly) oil change, jetting & clutch adjust so hopefully I can cruise Sunday afternoon for the first time in 2 yrs!!!
I'z a happy guy
Eddie
Thanks for the compliments guys. Its been a long wait. I'll post "finished" engine pics soon. Say...what is the best way to seat those rings Motorhead??? I was thinking a few slow runs in 2nd gear up to 3-4K then slowly let off the gas??? Wudd-a-ya think?
Eddie
I bring it up hard in 2nd gear to about 5k then let off and bring it down to about 2K. Do this a few times and then let er rip. If it was built correctly you should be able to run it hard as you want after this.
