Well, I finally got the answer to my jumpy ammeter gauge.
Tonight my left turn signal didn't blink. I thought it was the bulb of course but a new bulb didn't solve the problem.
After changing the bulb and monkeying around with it for a bit, I noticed that the turn signal indicator on the dash would light up when the headlights went on. Then it wouldn't.
To make a long story short, after 3 hours or so I traced it to the socket that connects the parking light to the wire harness. Didn't see any way of taking that socket apart(rubber boot) so I cut into the wires and spliced them together.
Not only does the turn signal work, but the ammeter gauge works perfectly, too!
