Default Question about my block

I finally got around to disassembling the engine from my 82 project. something im curious about is the number pad stamping. It doesnt look the same as other stampings im use to. Is this the way it is suppose to be, or can someone shed some light on this?

is this possibly a replacement engine? Also, is it suppose to be blue?

The block might have been decked at a machine shop where the original numbers were machined off with the material of the deck. They might have stamped the numbers back in manually, and yes, GM painted a lot of Corvette blocks blue.

Engine paint was chaned to blue during the 77 production. ZBA is correct for 79 and 82. Check the bottom numbers against your vin number.

ZBA is a correct suffix for your car and yes it should be blue. However, someone with '82 specific experience is going to have to offer an opinion on that VIN derivative font. That "5"...
Whats the engine number and casting date? And in what format?

That font IS different on purpose. My '80 has a simmilar font.

The engine was assembled at the Flint engine plant on June 24th of 1982. It is a 350 cube 200 HP and was put into that Corvette during the first week of July.
