That's actually right on. Plan for between $7K and $10K for a good high quality paint job, and add another $3K to $5K to that if you want a REALLY good paint job.

It also really depends on how much work goes into a job like this. Example: A car with four paint jobs all on top of the other is going to take four times as long to strip off as a car with original paint.

Also, the brand of paint used plays a big role. Big names that carry quality cost a lot.

Don't skimp. If you're on a budget, old original paint is sometimes better than new crap paint.

looking at the year of your 'vette, it looks like you could buy a new one for less then that. These guys are just like all the rest of these car working stiffs,, crying in there Beer about how hard it is to make a living,, all the while charging the average joe that makes 20 bucks an hour $120 an hour. 88 HUNDRED dollars for a PAINT job. What a joke. Best bet is to find one of these working stiffs like yourself who works at one of these head hunter shops who does good work, and talk to him. Ask around with some friends and you can probably get it done for 2500 including the holy magic paint Do most of the prep your self, ask the guy for some tips or ask here,, plenty of guys here have done and know how to do there own paint, but you just need to do the prep and find a guy who knows how to spray and has the rig set up. a joke.

They are also considering the problems they will find after removing the old paint and fixing the stress cracks. $10K should get you a nice complete job. $15K + for show quality.
