Default Old Style Wire Wheels?

My brother-in-law had a 71 Grand Prix that had Chrome rims, the wire spokes came off for easy cleaning, this also helped with the spokes not needing adjusting ect.... Do you guys know where I can get these?

I think the Dayton wheel company made wire wheels. A buddy of mine had them on his Corvette years ago.

Superior Wheel used to make some "wire basket" wheels.
Here's some gold tinted rimmed model on ebay

VetteBuyer.... Play nice!

I understand what your saying..... I don't want cheapy wire hub caps. My Brother-in-Law had a MINT 71 Grand Prix, Tripple Black. Exterior, Interior and T-Top. It had those nice Wire Wheels, and after looking at the link, that looks like them (thanks). They were chrome in the back not gold though. They were sharp, and easy to care for.

I am not too fond of the new ones. They seem tough to keep clean, not as strong and would take time/money to keep adjusted and balanced.

I think they would look nice once I get the fresh paint job, chrome side pipes with the chrome bumpers...

1982Corvette, Thanks for the support.... Although I think VetteBuyer could have used a softer tone and I think went against forum rules of engagement, I can see why he made the statement. If you look at his pictures, if in fact that Vette is his.... he is one of those guys that wants 100% originality, no changes. I have no problem with that, it looks nice, and I am happy for him. I for one do not have the funds to make mine 100% factory, nor do I care too.......... I like the chrome wheel look rather than the ralley wheels and I think the Lemans Blue, Chrome Spoked wheels (old Style), Chrome Side Pipes (mine came factory side piped) and Chrome Bumpers would look great.

I totally understand, his post was tacky and uncalled for.

see my car.......it's nowhere NEAR original. Just like you said if I was trying to make my car exacly as it left the factory I would have exceeded the value of the car, plus went crazy trying find stuff that isn't being made anymore.

Did a search on his posts and this is one of the people that honestly believes that if it is not totally NCRS correct it is junk! I just keep modifying the 63 SWC to the total horror of some and the big from others. To each their own but try to play nice and not insult others or their ideas.

I also would not put wire wheels on a vette but to each his own. I also think vetteBuyer was trying to make a joke voicing his opinion that fell flat. If we make guys like v-Buyer and others (who have been told what to said and how to say it) chg their tone and "play nice" they may go away. And if that happens this may become a very boring club. So put on what ever wheel you like on your vette after all its your vette.

I agree.... My "Play Nice" statement was meant to be as light as his comment to me... Heck, if I did what everyone suggest, the Vette would be Yellow or Black (wife wants me to have it painted Black) But I am going to get it repainted Lemans Blue. I would have cloned it a 427 (even though I have tank Sticker) instead I have a 350 from a 88 GMC. (original 350 was blown and long gone back in 72 I think) and I would have sold it twice now for the 12-15k I was offered, since I only have about 4,800 invested so far, that would not be a bad deal... But I will stick with what I want.....

So..... I apprecaite all the help this site has given me, if you search my post, you will see I've gotten more than my share of help along the way! Thanks to all that have done so.

Thanks Ed.. that would be nice... I think the Wire Wheels looked good on the "Rush Hour" movie as well.

I might be able to help anyone who might need a nice set of Center Caps and Rings. (I was given (2) complete sets with my purchase). That is if I get the wire wheels like I hope too.
