Hi All,
Trying to decide which way to go with the car. Its a solid CA/NV car (have old NV title) 390hp/ 4-speed, red/red, AC, all the power bs. Only real problems are a butchered flare job that was cut off before I rescued the car, a cheapie l88 hood, and a CE engine stamp. Well that and it needs total restoration... Most of the AC is there, wiper cowl stuff is in great shape, correct date coded wheels, etc. shoulder belts are 98%, most of the bits and pieces are there its just kinda grubby.
Anyone have any good 3/4 or side profile shots of either the billet or steel wheels in sizes from 16"-20" on their C3? I am considering a light restomod on my 69 and think these wheels would looks killer. Opinions on aftermarket vs restored A/C, jeep steering steering box mod, C4/C5 brakes, VB & P suspension, and hyrdaboost all readily accepted.
I've been cruzing the forum for a while and read up on most of this stuff, just haven't found all the answers... just want to hear some opinions. I not going to hack up the car, and its not going to be a commuter, I just want it to be fun and pleasant to drive. Since Im goign to spend money fixing all this stuff I might as well do it where it will make it the best performing car it can be, right? Let the next weenie worry about restamping the block for "matching numbers". I'm just trying not to go overboard. I have a 94 Rx-7 with a LS1/t56 for a late model hotrod and an old 76 l48/350 that would probaly be better off modded in lieu of the 69. I just want the 69s performance to match its looks!
Not even the all black Cadillac Escalade with the chrome belts/buckles on the back and the neon underneath??? I think those wheel would look "fine" on something like that.
Sure, it would look great on one of those 'urbanized' escalades...if it was sitting in a car crusher. I think I saw those rims at wal mart last weekend. Ha.
Yeah... thanks. I was asking about Wheel Vintiques Billet or Steel Corvette Ralley wheels though. TTIIs are ok but the blue vette, sits too high. As for the others I'd sooner make a bonfire out of the car than do that to it. More power to the people who want 22" and up wheels I don't care for them or the "Stomper" look they provide.
Any feed back on the drivability of the steering and brake mods compared to restored stock?
As for the images anyone got any suggestions for any good webspace hosts?
Jay

As for the wheels, I LOVE the Corvette Rallies. I think Wheel Vintiques or maybe someone else sells them up to 18". Anything bigger than that on a C3 looks funny IMO. I've even seen chrome versions of them. If you've got decent looking centers, this may be the best way to go!
I wanted to do a LS conversion in that style RX7, but got so deep into my '72 project (also a LS swap) that I don't have the time or money right now. I'll take some profile shots of mine tomorrow. I have 18" CCW's and flares in case you decide to put those back on. Also doing hydroboost, Steeroids, aftermarket suspension, etc.
Syclone_Jack,
Congratulations on the Corvette and welcome to the forum.
You'v come to the right place for opinions and answers.
Good luck with your new ride,
Post some pictures when you have them: we like pictures.

I rather like the C6 wheels from FrankenVette. alternatively I also like the c5 - Z06 wheels or the traditional look of a set of Torq Thrust wheels.
As far as steering update goes, I would suggest a rack and pinion setup from one of the big vette vendors, they work well and are a nice bolt in kit. No need to go re-inventing the wheel so to speak and use a Jeep box.
