Default Interior Mods

Hey guys

Now that my wife is back to work (after a year off from having out first child) i am going to have some "corvette money"! i am so excited!

let me start by saying, i dont plan on ever letting my car go. i have always dreamed of owning a vette since i was little, and well about 3yrs ago i made it happen...and just 2 days ago the title came in the mail! i am walking around with my chest poked out! i OWN my vette now...

anyways, i was wondering, what kind of interior mods has anyone done? i'm not so electrical handy so that kind of stuff is out- atleast for now, but cosmetically- what have you done?

i read a few weeks back, someone took the inserts off the T Tops and gave them 3-4 inches more head room...thats appealing. i am 6'2".

i got this idea of using some gray alligator print vinyl somewhere in my car. (my car is silver with red interior).

I dont think i am going for the whole "pimp my ride" thing, but i want to do things on saturday afternoons that i can do, and be proud of when i am done saying "I DID THAT".

any thoughts? pix would be great...

no alligator print please dude

that being said, awesome! if you have a red interior black accents would be the way to go. they should still match the silver well too.
you can add the darker carbon fiber also, that looks good.

throw in some black are-rests, black floor mats, visors maybe?-not sure, change out the shifter boot for a black one. upgrade the stereo, neon accents are cool if done right, but only if done right. do very little and give alot of thought as to where your putting it. that's all i got for now off the top of head. post some pics and i'll see what else i can think of

...first of all gutting the t-tops would be a good idea, you'll make more room for your (big ) head.

i would not use any exotic wildlife printings either.

personally i would not customize the interior further unless you want to fully re-design it.

I only let women in the car if they are in nude so the leather seats keep them from ending up on the floor.

i had thought black would look good...or gray (even if it isnt alligator ) bc the car is silver.

so i should get some black vinyl and piece it in, or just some black dye.

I need to replace the E-Brake cover, so maybe i buy a black one.

my shifter bott is black now, but probbaly should be replaced anyways as it shows signs of wear.

neon lights....i love it! how do i do it? the only ones i ever thought to do neon were underbody- and well...i just dont know about those.

feed more into this neon interiors....how would YOU do it?

the wiring is easy, just run it off of 12v somewhere, probably off the switched source for regular lights. you can put them under the dash, in the vents, under the seats, basically anywhere you can't see the tube but the ambient light will show. you could start taping neon tubes everywhere but that wont look good. remember, less is more. don't over do it.

Take a look at my seat pics in the gallery (I can't post to the forum). I did everything in red & black. I sent out the seats, dash (covered in black leather), and shift boot to be redone. The seats have black vinyl bolsters with red suede and yes, a black vinyl alligator insert in both the seat back and sitting area (alligator paws are centered). I also bought new black door panels and had the red suede sewn in w/ the alligator inserted in the middle. The shift boot has 2 black vinyl & 2 red suede panels. It looks great but it's not for those keeping things stock.

My husband has a body shop so we've done all other interior work together. We stripped the interior and he alternately painted it red & black, i.e., black (leather ) dash, red dash faces, red front carpet, black rear carpet w/ the compartment frame in black and carpet in red. The panels in the T-tops are red and the center piece is black. I think it's awesome but you got to love mods.

I'm all about originality and having a '76 that will probably never be worth much stock, I'm happy with what's been done to the car. In my racing world of friends, people love it. In my car club, with a bunch of "keep it stock/original", they're not so crazy about it. I love it and it's all mine! Do what makes you happy!

i guess u missed the part of my original post where it said, i'm not so "electrically" inclined.

and not to sound completely dumb, i dont know what the 12v is... but the idea sounds cool!

PS- took my 7month old for a ride yesterday...well i picked him up from daycare in my vette. buckled him in the seat and we went home...relax the day care is in the adjoining packing lot to our apt complex... but he seemed to like it...esp when i piped the exhaust! :-)
