That spot in the shielding...ie the "hole".....if i look in there with a mirror I see a metal strip sticking out from a circle. It doesn't look like an electrical connection but it is really hard to see and it could be.
If that is where the connector goes there doesn't seem to be any way I can push it in there...it's too deep and working blind

A metal strip? Or a blade connector for the plug to slide onto?
Remove the wing-nuts and the shield (from under the car, much easier) so you can actually see, and then replace them after you decide what you want to do.
I think if it's going to be a PITA, and you're not using the TCS anyway, then just get a wire tie and hide the green wire somewhere by the ac/heater core.
At least you now know what it's supposed to go to.
Jim looking at your diagram above-view A..the starter view.It looks like they have removed the wiring that pertains to the TCS and shows the TCS temp switch in the head.Otherwise what would that drawing of the starter have to do with the TCS?
This could be a case of make the drawing fit the already made up wiring harness.Just a thought.
Maybe someone else with a 70 can post a wiring harness drawing out of another 70 AIM or 70 shop manual.

That may be exactly what I end up doing. But now I know where it goes and what it does.....better than not knowing!
