Default 74 Big Block Flexplate question...

Just wondering if anyone here knows how many teeth are on the stock flexplate of a 74 Big Block 454 engine. I need to get a new mini high torque starter (oem starter keeps getting heat soaked from the headers). Just want to make sure I get the right starter for my application. From what I hear, the mini's really dont get heat soaked like the OEM big starters.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Ironcross. I looked for a 163 & found nothing...

Im just so sick of this starter crapping out after a nice sunday cruise. I've got header wrap on the headers, but still doesnt seem to help. I put a used mini starter in there a couple months back & had no problems, but the bendix crapped out & time to get a new one.

168 small block & big block internally balanced engine flywheels are the same also if its not heat thats killing your starter try checking your starter bolts for straitness. If a bolt is bent .020 it will eat a starters.Ask me how I know
