The last 6 numbers of the engine code will be the last 6 of the VIN if the engine is original, assuming they haven't been tampered with.

Put all the numbers on the block pad in a thread and someone will break them down for you.

There a two numbers stamped on the engine pad. The first (and largest) is the engine identification code stamped at the engine assembly plant (Flint, Michigan for Corvette small blocks and Tonawanda, New York, for big blocks).

The second number (smaller characters) is the VIN sequence and was stamped on the assembly line.

The Corvette Black Book lists the engine codes.

OK, the small #'s are to coincide with the VIN # if the car is #'s matching. We have that much straight. What does the second set of BIG #'s mean??

Like V07290 CKX

I know the CKX means 180HP auto-tans. What's the first part mean?? I don't mean to hijack a thread just curious....
