When you see a C3 with a perfectly aligned hood, perfectly floated headlight covers, and a quality paint job it just stands out in a good way. Is it extremely difficult to align the C3 hood?

The factory must have been able to do it easily. My hood & headlight doors still have a perfect fit after 31 years. But I still have the hood blocks and they must be in the right places...
I took some work to get mine lined up. It sat up high in the rear and wansn't exactly right side to side. I still don't have the rubber bumpers on it though. One of the things on my list that I need to get. Do they just glue on? I think I can see where they used to be but cant' see any way of mechanically attaching them.
mine appears to sit high at the leading edge, but in fact, the front surround is pushed down from numerous bumps in the night by the idiots who owned it before me.
It's on the to do list, but mechanical stuff comes first.

I glued mine on with 3M weather strip adhesive....in pic below, I used two per side....you may have to adjust location(s) depending on mis-match/hood to fender...mine are about 9-10" in from each end of fender rail...
They did a good job in Bowling Green on the hood/headlights for my '82...but don't look too close on the body line for the front bumper to fender...yikes!
These cars had very good seams or gaps when new. Subsequent incidents, {crashes} make for considerable expence to correct. Many were not repaired verry well. Paint covers and hides a lot of secrets only found when they are stripped.
If you had the equipment and "tricks of the trade" that the assembly plants had, it would be no problem. The body fits can be made "true" if they are original parts for THAT CAR. If not, you might have to work on the parts some until they will fit properly.
