Another value Q for the CF "braintrust"
This beauty is in NY, I am in SC, so there is a logistics problem for me to evaluate the car if it goes that far.
This is from the owner...
"... the car is still available. It is being shown at an NCRS meet this
Sunday. The price is negotiable. I will send pictures. This is an
original car, and I bought it and ordered it in May of 1970. The top, and
paint and interior are all original. I have not modified this car in any
way, except for the tires, of course and stainless brakes. The brakes only have a few hundred miles on them. Some of the hoses have been changed, and the only thing that doesn't work is the heater, which went last year, from lack of use. Wiper door, clock radio headlights, all the little lights on the dash all work. This car has never been hit. I have all paperwork except for the window sticker. I have the warranty plate, bill of sale, order paperwork and such. I also have the original owners plate. The interior is vinyl, it has a am-fm stereo which was an option. It is Monza red, and there is really no rust through of any kind. It has been garaged all these years."
It's a 350-350, 335 rear, has am/fm, ps, pb, pw. 38,000 miles. Owner is selling for personal reasons disclosed to me, but no need to post them. Asking price is $65K, which seems high, but I wanted some expert opinions. And yes, I have looked at the Corvette Magazine guide to pricing, I want to know what these cars in this condition go for according to you guys...
I will ask for pics of the passenger side, and engine compartment... any other shots I should get? Ground level of rear end? Pillars? VIN plate area? Any suggestions are appreciated.
If it looks like a good car and I can have someone local take a look-see for me, and if the owner and I can come to terms, I will plan to fly in and see it in person, and have it shipped to SC.
Not precisely what I was looking for, but looks like a great car, and exactly what I'm looking for may never come along... whaddayathink?
Thanks in advance...
Bill

30 to mid 30's. Remember, 70 was a low production year and buying one from the original owner with all that documentation and those options is rare these days. That car is gorgeous. Have someone see it and if all is good grab it!Glenn
So, the next part of my question... is this as close as I'm likely to get to my ideal "dream" 'Vette, or should I hold out for closer to what I want. How often does a car like this, or my ideal car become available? I'd hate to pass this up, and a year from now be still looking. On the other hand, I'd be bummed to buy this, and next week see a '71 Mille Miglia BB vert with leather and a/c come up in the C3s for sale section... I know nobody here has a crystal ball (if you do, and it's reliable, PM me...), I just haven't been around long enough to know if they do pop up from time to time. I guess I could always buy from a dealer, but the general concensus seems to be that those cars are way overpriced as well...
Trying hard to keep the fever in check...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The price seems high even for an exceptional car that's not a LT-1. Remember very low mileage is only worth $$$ if you don't plan on driving the car either.
Hope it turns out to be as terrific as the pictures seem to show.
Regards,
Alan
You mention in your initial post, that you would like a Mille Miglia red color 'vette. That is a true rich red, not like the orange red of '69, '70 Monza red. Also you would like a big block or LT-1 optioned model.
I think you should hold out for more of what your looking for. I believe you can find a nice example of what you want for this cars price or less.
