I have a 68 coupe , had it since 1972, and I like what I saw.
Nothing on this car seemed to jump out at me and say "Walk away"
Just my 2 cents, but looks like it would be a good purchase.
Look for rust on the rear frame kickups and on the birdcage if he will let you pull off the interior foot well trim pieces
Good luck
Kurt
1. This an early production '68 (Unit 1876, Birthday October 12th) and has the drivers side mirror mounted 4 inches more to the front of the car then later production '68's.
2. No headlight shields? Why? Was the car in an accident, or were they removed? Also the grill edges on the front griill should be painted silver for '68's and early '69's, on this car they are not. Either the paint wore off, or the grills were replaced.
3. It appears that there is no plastic air dam/chin spoiler mounted on the front lower valance. Early '68's did not have them originally, but a TSB was issued to install the air dam later on in the production year. Not sure if this car ever had one or not. But seeing that there are no headlight shields, unpainted grill edges, and a no air dam, one may conclude that the front end may have been damaged at some point... or not. Hard to tell for sure.
4. It appears that the wiper/headlight override switches are located to the right of the steering column. Another early '68 thing. Later production '68's and the subsequent years mounted those switches directly under the steering column.
If you get a chance to check it out in person, by all means do so. All in all, the car looks good and is part of the first production run of '68's.
Good luck!
I'll keep pecking on this.
Thanks
David

Thanks
I speak with the dealer again next week. Salesman has already been called off and his boss has returned my call.
Thanks
David

I started at 17.6, they at 26.6. Were now at 22 & 24.6, I can't get out there for another 10 days, but I might just have to.
Still would appreciate it if someone in the area had the time to take a look.
David
Also why do the bells and whistles go off when I read 4 speed automatic in the description? It would be best to have someone look at the car very closely.

With the above except I think the headlight shields are there but were painted yellow (should be black). The other thing I noticed is that the convertible top looked lumpy on the rear drivers side like it had either a latching problem or one the bows might be broken. Only one undercarriage pic??
Looks to be a nice car but pictures can be deceiving. Have a professional check it out before any money changes hands.
Good Luck.
Also, no power brakes (no booster).
The rust comcerns me. Take a close look at the picture of the VIN tag on the pillar.
Just some thoughts from an uninterested observer.
