Default March Pulleys

Hi guys,
I'm looking at a set of March pulleys for my 72 small block, the Ultra kit 1.( serpentine belt set up ) Has anyone here fitted these on their Vette, or know someone that has? I'm a little concerned about the clearance for the crank and power steering pulleys. This kit uses the type 2 P/S pump which requires a remote reservior. Is this pump compatable with the existing control valve and do the existing oil lines fit?
And before anyone says to ask March, I sent them an e-mail and havn't had a reply.
Any help would be appreciated.

Doug

I installed a set of March pullys on my 74. It was not the same set as you are installing. The set I installed was the crank, water pump and PS pump pullys that used a standard belt. I had no clearance proplems and I could tell a diffrence in HP. My 74 also has AC and the pullys had no noticable affect on the cooling when using the AC.

I have the March serpentine kit # 20450, it works with your stock PS pump - you only have to figure out if you have a keyway PS pulley or a press fit because press fit pulley is kit #20455. My stock 72 PS pulley was the bolt-on keyway type, I am assuming it is stock since it was on the car when I bought it. The other item you need to know is that you will need to also buy the short water pump with the 5/8" shaft; I used the Edelbrock Victor #8810. Normally, the short vette water pump has a 3/4" shaft (like the Edelbrock #8812), but it won't work with the March pulleys. There is little clearance between the PS pump cap and the water pump, but I used a grinder to remove just enought material from the water pump to be able to remove the PS pump cap; I don't know if this same clearance issue would hapen with another brand of water pump, or if it is just an Edelbrock thing because the pump is a high volume unit.

Anyways, I hope all this helps you.

The current lines will not work, you will definitely have to make/buy new ones. I used SS braided teflon lines.

I dont have that one, but i have the outward mount and it fits fine. No issues.

Thanks for the replies, especially the pics. I am looking at a second hand Ultra set up (still brand new), this setup mounts forward of the heads so I thouhgt there may be some clearance issues. It's a pretty expensive kit, but it looks cool. Not as cool as the 502 though.

Cheers, Doug
