Anyone know what holds the outside windshield trims on ? I need to remove the drivers side vertical and the top center on my 68 convertible. Are any of the fasteners hidden under the weatherstrip for the vertical ? Thanks
yes, that is where they are on my76. I have mine apart now. There is two chrome pieces for each vertical.I was going to to have them rechromed but i got a polishing kit and they look like new.
It has been a long time since I did a C3 windshield so I will do the best I can. The top molding is clipped on. I will show you the tool you need below. press down lightly on the handle to keep the tip of the tool off the edge of the windshield. If you catch the edge of the glass with the tool you may crack the windshield so be careful. I did all the corvettes at my shop because of the cost of the glass and the nature of the car.
On the pillars, ( this is where this old brain is failing a bit)if you don't see these clips they are held on with screws under the door glass weather strip. Work from the interior side of the weather strips. Pull the strip back to expose the screws. I used to do it this way so I didn't have to re glue the strips back into the molding. First the channel holding the weather strip will pull back then you will find a couple more screws holding the windshield trim. If is original there may be a foam strip between the two trim pieces I mentioned.
Go slow so you don't destroy your weather stripping. I hope this helps.

Thanks, I thought it must be under the weatherstrips but I didn't want to destroy the weatherstrip on a hunch. I will take a peak under there. Thanks to everyone else for your help.
