Default 1970 Windshield door fit problem.

My windshield wiper door on my 1970 does not fit flush on the passenger side whereas the drivers side seems fine. I would estimate that it's sticking up just under a 3/16 of an inch and by simply applying a little pressure it goes back down nice and flush only to pop back up again. --- How do I go about correcting that mismatch on the left side?
Thank you

You might have to take it completely off and check the mounting structure underneath. If it is bent or if something is out of adjustment, I think that may be the only way to see it. Sounds like a possible adjustment, since you can manually push it down. The bolts have a tendency to be brittle and you need to use care and order a new set to replace them when you put it back. When I first got my car (72 vert) the vacumn didn't work, so I took the entire wiper mechanism out and cleaned it up and repainted it, replaced the hoses and all the other rubber parts. When you say left side are you referring to drivers side? The wiper arms set on a switch on the passenger side that may be mounted too high.

as 72 said, check the plunger on the right side that hits the wiper safety switch. ther's an adjusting bolt that may have moved. that could be springing back and causing your problem.

Keep the ideas coming I have a 70 with the exact same problem. I removed the door and remounted it and didn't see much room for adjustment although I didn't look too hard as that was not my major concern at the time.

Another thing is if the car has replacement wiper blades on it. The factory blades were low profile compared to todays replacements. The door may be hitting on the wiper blades. Just another idea to check.
