If you think about all the springs and webbing to remove that would be a lot harder than taking the covers off.

Replace the foam completely if you are going to keep the car. The replacement foam from the corvette catalogs is really comfotable and you will be glad you did. I had mine done with covers and foam from a catalog and installed by a professional upholsterer. Money well spent. You have to use a few special tools other than the hog ring pliers to do this right. On my 1974 there are wires that run through the cover and you need a special tool which comes in the installation kit to do this. It pulls the wire through the foam. It takes some patience and knack to do this right. Plus he heated the cover up with a heat gun to move it where it needed to be and get rid of wrinkles. I understand now how to do it, but if I ever need it done again I will go back to him, as he does extremely nice work.

NO, because the foam is attached to the covers with clips and you are going to need an installation kit too. You are going to be recking a few hog rings and clips in the process....maybe just buy the foam bottoms and kit, or just get a seat cushion for ontop of your seats...no easy way around it.

The bottom seat cover is a lot easier to get off and back on than the cover for the seat back. If you're careful it's a pretty straight forward job. Do them 1 at a time so you have a complete one to refer to as you put it back together.

On my 71 the foam that's part of the seat cover itself was what had deteriorated. It had become the consistency of sawdust. That's what was making the cover loose. Needed new covers. (Al Knock)
