Default Brake Light Switch, Bad?

I have a 1968 Corvette and have a problem with the brake lights.

I have no braking lights at all... I have turn signals and parking brakes though.

Could my brake light switch be bad, or what else do you think could be causing that? All the fuses are good.

Thanks for any help

First check at the brake pedal to be sure the pedal is actually touching/activating the switch in case the switch came loose and is not touching the arm of the brake pedal.

Thanks for the reply Kurt. I just checked, the switch is in contact with the pedal, looks like it should.

Thanks

I also have a 68 .
I assume your taillights are working but just not the brake lights, am I correct.
If the taillights are OK, see if you can have someone watch at the rear while you manually work the brake light switch with your hands to see if it is "throwing" the lever far enough to make and break contact.
If that still doesn't activate the brake lights, then the switch itself may be shot. Also check the connection where the brake switch plugs into the wire harness to make sure you have a good connection. I'd unplug and plug it back in a few times jsut to see if it makes a better connection. I try all the simple stuff first as often that solves the problem.
You can also unplug the switch from the harness and with a test light temporaily jumb across the plug and see if the brake lights come on. That will narrow it down to the switch.
Let us know how you make out.

There is another thread on this forum right now called "68 Brake Switch location"
Go andlook at thepictures posted there and note that the holes for mounting the switch are slotted/elongated.
Perhaps yours loosened up and slid down and as result is not letting the arm make proper contact with the pedal. If you look at the picture you will see what I mean.
