The charge warning light has started to glow at all speeds and it's accompanied by a buzzing sound behind the panel. The alternator output is as it should be.

Any idea ideas/easy fix
TIA
You mean the GEN warning light? This means the voltage has dropped on either the alternator side or the battery side.
You may have a bad voltage trio in the alternator where it won't charge under a load but seems fine at idle. You may also have a diminished charge at the battery.
The alternator is working well, 100 mile round trip, battery good ,it responds to load ,lights/defogger ,the voltmeter stays at 16v.
The buzzing noise(like a trapped mosquito) is coming from the area on the drivers side of the gear change, it goes away off idle.

That 16V reading? That's from the alternator? That means your alternator probably has a bad regulator. It should never go much higher than 14.7V. Even 15V is pushing it. Running an alternator that's pushing 16V will kill your battery, as is burst.
Double check your voltages and get that alternator replaced and hope your battery didn't die.
As DB said, 16V is definitely not the normal output of your alternator. Put a handheld voltmeter directly on your alternator and see what it says, your gauge could be lying to you. Or just take your alternator to your local parts store to have it tested for free.
Thanks for the help, you're right the output voltage is less tha 15v.
the cure for the gen light was the rheostat on the light switch, turning it fully from dim to bright/int light and back stopped the buzzing choke light relay and extinguished the gen light. I love my corvette
