Default Help with Weight

Has anyone seen a list of component or sub-component weights?

I'm looking for a list which would include, but not limited to:
the front clip,
bumpers,
fenders,
door assembly,
bird cage,
rear section(quarterpanels, rear deck and birdcage combined),
etc...

Did GM make a list of these weights?

I would estimate that the complete stripped body minus doors is about 300 pounds, maybe a bit less. but that is a very rough guess since I can lift one side of my body by myself and I am not that strong.

Maybe you could check shipping weights from suppliers.

Don't know of any supplier that will ship birdcage/quarterpanels/deck, as one unit.

I was hoping GM had this information hidden away in a manual or tech bulletin. What do you think???

I'm sure GM has that info but not sure if its published.I have a bunch of the old stuff,I'll look through and see if I can find any weights. Are you looking for bare body weight or body minus frame? Maybe we could start with car shipping weight and minus out the rolling chassis, seats, glass and so on.

Roger, I have two cars in various stages of restoration. It would be great to know weights in order to arrange component storage in a safe manner.

I am trying to figure out the weight of a stripped out birdcage, all glass removed but body attached minus the front clip. Also doors are easy to store on the floor, but could safely be stored on a shelving structure, dependant on the weight.

Bottom line is I could use whatever weights are known. You are correct in assuming that by knowing the weight; of the frame, rolling chassis, glass, seats, whatever is available, that you can then extrapolate to determine what's required.

Whatever you can source out will be a great help.

Thanks Dan
