Thats what I thought too with the front and rear the way they are. I never talked to the guy about it, I just frequent his site everyonce in a while to see what he has.
It could very well be a 71, mine is began racing as a 70, was rebuilt as a widebody in 74 and the rear clip was replaced with a fast back after crashing in late 77. Racecars continue to evolve while active. I've kept mine original to the 77 rebuild but if I still "actively" raced it I would continue to upgrade to newer parts/systems etc.

Mine was born a '71 also, it's an early C4 body in this pic. Hope to have it in Grand Sport livery/bodystyle this winter. Updating gone out of control. /:\
I guess whats strange about this car is that the rear fenders are different than those of you above that own them, but the front looks the same. Why would you flare the rear and then use wide fenders on the front? Is that common?

This is an easy answer.
SCCA rules did not allow the fender flares to merge into the door. Only the fender could be changed.
IMSA allowed the body to be much more modified.
No doubt this car has an SCCA history and the SCCA racing was more important to the owner at the time than IMSA was.
Also, when the front was changed, it may have been that the Can Am (IMSA) style front end was available and thus required less fabrication than doing conventional flares on the front of an '80-'82 style front clip.
