well..in looking at where the hard lines exit/stop off the frame rail it needs to be in a "S" shape to more naturally fit the curve to where the fuel pump's inlet is located. Does not make any sense at all to me how or why there is a difference between the 68-69 vs. 70+ fuel inlet hoses but there apparently is. At least its only a small hose so if does not fit correctly I will not be out too many $$$. I will try to get this done next week and post pics. Yes...I hear the fuel pump will be a pain in the butt.
I had always had the kinking problem on my other GMs. When I looked at the fuel pump on my vette I saw the guy before me had run the straight lines(rubber) into a loop coming off the frame rail and hooked them to the fuel pump. No kinks... I wonder why I never thought of that... but I will go with the preformed when I replace them.
I am going to switch to a 70's style pump & hard line hose from the fuel pump to the carb essentially eliminating the dual fuel filters (GF-432). It will be cheaper and easier for me in the long run especially since they apparently stopped making the GF-432 filters that are inline before the carb fuel filter. Thanks for the help and this will clean up things a bit in my engine bay no longer having that fuel filter sitting there in the front passenger corner.
You guys are missing the point here. Unless my '76 is different or has been messed with in the past, the metal line is very short and feeds into a rubber line after passing through the right rear wheelwell. From what I can see, to do this properly the body will have to come off the frame, as there are more rubber lines that are inaccessible. This, or sinply run new lines on the inside of the frame rail. As far as premolded, why? The fuel system runs at about 5 PSI, not nearly enough to cause any damage. For the frame-to-pump hose, cut it two inches longer and apply a curve so it does not kink.
